Does anyone know if this company actually runs equipment or are they strictly a broker?

Any input is appreciated.

They do run equipment. They have terminals in across Canada and the USA and run their own equipment between those lanes but do broker anything outside the radius of their terminals.

Safersys shows 1 truck in BC and 0 truck in ON.

Nawk I know they have more than that number.. I've seen Herman's trucks in Calgary Edmonton Vancouver and around southern California

And around the GTA too of course

They are a Freight forwarder (line-haul and a good portion of local Dray performed by non-owned company units), no different than Maple Gate, Fastrate et al. Assets include physical terminals, coupled with P&D units (owned/contracted). They are also an active Load Broker.

They're one of those that handle freight on multiple legs where one leg is performed by them and the rest typically brokered, interlined, partnered out or whatever have you. I also believe that they use owner-operators that use their own authorities for the most part.

The person who owns CSA also owns a brokerage in Woodbridge called Approved Canadian Transportation.

they operate one or two trucks, your freight will almost never move on their truck. as far as our shipments have gone it was 99% double brokered, until we figured it out, our customer wasn't happy. had to remove them from our list. our last shipment response was "you didn't ask if we are double brokering this".

That is strange as our experience has been if we ask for a quote on something that is not their lane, interline, etc, they let us know it would be double brokered. We do have a specific rep we deal with on all shipments so perhaps it's one of those deals that depends on whom your dealing with?
