I know there is a thread on 'cheap freight of the day', what about the inverse?
I can't believe I just paid this, but the freight has to move so I just paid $xxxx on laneway A to B
Would this be a fun thread for people, or should I just delete it?

Keep well, happy Friday,
Mike

I'll play along - I just paid from Fort Wayne, IN to Toronto, ON - Dry Van for $ 1300
Last year was booking them $ 950 - $ 1150.
Not that crazy but it's significant...

TGIF!!

$2200 OH - ON
Moose, I hear ya - OH, IN, IL, MI inbound are like rounders (for the ones taking advantage) and like 50% increase for the carriers that are being reasonable.

Keep well,
Mike

I know I just paid $1100 for a flat with tarps out of Michigan. I did not think that was outrageous as the last time I did the load back in 2016 it cost me $900. Just covering increased cost's is how I looked at it.

I have heard the 50-100% increases some carriers are trying to get and while I can understand where they are coming from it to me does not make sense to try and bend everyone over all at once. Is this a flash in the pan or a long term thing we are seeing right now? If it is a flash in the pan I hope people remember that we where fair if it is long term than maybe I am missing out on a better start.

Have I increased rates across the board yes we have but a lot of the rates needed it and where a long time coming. There where a lot of brokers that have been playing the game for along time and bending carriers over constantly being a hundred or two below market rates. Those brokers when they call get the usual rate increase and a couple hundred more just for spite price but the fair all along guys get a decent increase.

Happy Friday is it rumthirty yet?

We got offered $3000 US Ontario to NJ and had to turn it down no trucks left - have to look after our regular customers first - it hurt a little I'm not going to lie.

$4,000 for fresh load (protect from freezing) from Burlington to Tulsa with one stop in Chicago!

Got offered $9,800.00 USD, Toronto-Vancouver from a very reputable company. Didn't have an ounce of iron in the yard !!!! <insert very f***ing sad face here>

We have a lot of loads to go to PA we had a carrier today say that he would give us a truck Next Tuesday (1 week from today) and he would need $2,000 but if he got a better offer before that he would drop our load. I laughed at first but who knows what next week will bring (kidding would not do it).
