anyone know anyone looking for used container chassis? I have a customer looking to sell a 2005 Max Atlas B-train 20 foot tandem /20/40 tridem.

Check with Martin at Dsquare in Montreal - might be looking.

1 quick unrelated question, if I want to pickup containers to come to our distribution center do I need anything special (outside of chasis) to enter CN/CP rail yards?

To get set up for pick up appointments is all you need back when we did it about 10 years ago for CN. It sucked as they never seemed to have any decent appointments always at night and weekends.

The pick up appointment situation it clunky when dealing with CN. You'll need to monitor the containers progress daily as it works its way to the rail yard. then you need to book your appointments online and pick up within a certain amount of time or they ding you for storage. Like Rob mentioned... most available appts are nights and weekends. Often if you call the 1-800 # and wait on hold for 20 minutes they can get you a better time.

You also need to have them returned back within a certain amount of time or they ding you again.

Funny thing is... when your truck sits there for 4 hours waiting to get a box put on a chassis... unless you can bill your client... no one pays you anything .

Negotiating a flat rate with a drayage specialist might be a better way to budget.

Thanks everyone and sorry Bluffs for hijacking your thread.
I should mention that if the can is routed to CP, Highland or Musket... your life becomes a little easier with respect to the pick up. However, the cans typically wind up returning to a different location.

Nawk- true story- its kinda funny - we do container trans for other customers but outsource all the CP moves to our facility to a drayage company

Driver and carrier will have to be registered with CN, CP or some of the other bigger ports before entering yard. Many safety regulations as well
