From what I hear they will be moving at walking speed so they will probably want a few beers on that exciting trip:D

I would like to go see this a couple of the turns on the map in Hamilton should be alot of fun. Good luck to them!!

Indeed. Getting 150 feet of tank around a corner will be a chore.

It would be pretty cool to watch though.

In the town that I live in they make the pre-cast bridge supports. Some of these are 150' at least. They move by truck and have a special trailer where they put the one side on a small trailer and the rear with a small bogie type device that can steer. A car follows and steers the rear bogie.

It is neat to see how it works.

Keep in mind that a move of this magnitude goes beyond the capabilities of any one carrier, regardless of their size. The number of very specialized trailers involved requires collaboration between the very few companies that provide this type of service. It would appear to me that Challenger has the lead role in this massive undertaking and in that role, has enlisted the cooperation and expertise of their competitors. In my opinion, it is refreshing to see companies working together for a change.

Agreed!

I agree Loaders. Let's not be too critical of a company doing what needs to be done. If one of us on this site were awarded this contract and enlisted the help of other site members to do the job, would be critical of that? Or would we be saying what great companies are on this site? :):)

I think you will find that Mammoet has been involved with this move from the start. I am sure that they were the company that moved these pieces from the manufacturer to the seaport in Europe for their ocean journey to Canada. Not surprising considering Mammoet is a European based company. It is my understanding that they have little or any power equipment in North America and utilize the services of local suppliers, such as Challenger, Anderson Haulage, Paddock and my company on occasion. Again, a collaborative approach utilizing the expertise of regional suppliers to complete a difficult and complex project. Certainly not the kind of job that is sent out for everyone to quote on.

Then why was Challenger trying to take all of the glory on the move? In all the newscasts and articles including their own website it was all Challenger all the time. I agree Mammoet was probably involved from the beginning but why not give your partners their due credit instead of trying to take all the look at us and what we can do glory??

I personally dont give a damn but Loaders seems to want to defend them so I have to ask.
