I say this as a freight broker that really does do an honest day's work: CH Robinson gives us all a bad name...how the heck do they stay in business when they just walk into everybody's customers and slash rates without rhyme or reason. My regular carriers can't go outbound anymore, and anybody coming inbound needs to charge double their regular rate to get back home. By the way, we run trucks too...so we know what it costs to keep a truck on the road. I say all carriers should boycott CH Robinson....don't take the crap their dishing out.

As much as I agree with you I do have to fault our customers as well. They are the ones who give their freight to CH. I have come across several customers that ask if we are an asset-based carrier or a broker. If a customer wanted a carrier with trucks, CH would have a hard time. They have relationships with carriers, not actual steel on the road. As long as the customers want a cheaper rate and as long as there are companies out there that will take the cheap freight, we carriers are unable to change things.

I suggest you engage your contact at CH and make sure he knows you have a truck ready to do the load, just pay me what I want. If they are desperate, they WILL call you back.

They don't give a damn about truckers. All they care about is keeping their shareholders happy. Chicago and Vaughan are the 2 worst offenders but I am sure there are others that are just as difficult. On my DNU for a long time now with one office in Minnesota being the exception because they were taken over by them CH Robinson and still have decent rates for some freight. Besides that 1 MN office I avoid CH ROBINSON Like the Plague!

This does not include Shirley in Minneapolis, she goes out fo her way to keep the rates good and she gets my respect.
