Just wondering if anyone has found a good cell phone data plan that's good anywhere in North America. We have been demo-ing the BIG ROAD app for tracking drivers as well as sending dispatch info and document transfer. This app works great if you have the data, just need to find the best priced data package

Check with your current service provider, sometimes they are more likely to look with you for the proper type of coverage and deals that suits you. Speak with your account executive, he may be more open to dealing than you could expect. If they are not helping, shop around the big cell phone company, has they usually do anything to get corporate customer in their hand

We signed up with big road in September. Went with bell as they had a decent NA data plan and pooled minutes. They signed us up as a corporate account which included a couple more phones than we needed, but was still less than our previous plan. They also threw the phones in and a very good incentive per line to switch. Talk to a corporate sales guy, they will get you the best deal.

How do you like the app so far?

Bell, Rogers, & Verizon

We have corporate plans with the 3 big providers, they all seem to have a different view of billing on the data. I can't seem to get a decent data plan. Just looking for someone who can give a simple plan and be able to use anywhere in North America.

From a Globe and mail article this summer. USA provider is the way to go
Wireless service a bad connection for business - The Globe and Mail

Pricing out a wireless plan for the ambitious entrepreneur

It’s difficult to make an apples-to-apples comparison between wireless plans in the U.S. and Canada, but The Globe and Mail simulated an account of a busy entrepreneur who travels a lot between Canada and the U.S. and relies on a mobile phone as a heavily used business tool. Posing as an entrepreneur looking for a single-line plan, we went shopping for plans that gave a single user 1,350 minutes of calling, 1 gigabyte GB of data and unlimited texting in either Canada or the U.S. per month. Roaming charges, where applicable, were calculated based on an assumption of 350 minutes of calling in the U.S. per month.

Excluding taxes, surcharges and handset costs, here’s how four carriers measure up:
•Rogers – North American One Rate (Canada): $367.35
•Bell – Small Business Promotional Plan (Canada):$235
•Verizon – Nationwide Plus Canada (U.S) $154.99
•AT&T – Individual Plus Canada (U.S.) $149.99

The conclusion? It would appear to be a lot cheaper for such a person to get a U.S. address and join one of the mobile service providers south of the border.

No wonder Bell & Rogers could afford to buy the Leafs!!!

I had a Verison account until I moved to NS. Way cheaper than my Telus phone! Wish I could get the same deal from our Cdn. suppliers.

I wish to, We are like dinosaurs when it comes to cell phones.

American are so far in front of us that it's just a plain joke. Yes we are less population, but it does not encounter providers to screw the population like they do right now...

That's sad

Millions spent, nothing gained

Very interesting Globe & Mail article. Just goes to show that the CDN cellular companys have lots to loose, but when will they quite gouging the public and match the USA company pricing?
