Did anyone hear about a CBSA blitz just outside Winnipeg this week? I heard a story that officers were pulling over drivers and confirming licenses, work status, etc. Not sure if it is fact or fiction.

That is what I was told. I wasn't sure if they had authority to do that.

Story is yes there was a 'blitz' - we were not around the area - however they had CBSA officers and they were checking work status - this is from a whatsApp group - so no first hand confirmation about checking the work status part

It's happening all over, I have a friend in Calgary who was saying one of their sites had a CBSA "raid"

They are cracking down on undocumented workers, students working for cash, illegal immigrants etc, and there will be more to come. Restaurants, construction sites, farms, and weigh stations are all a part of the plan to crack down.

Total hearsay, but I was told that in the WPG blitz they stopped 25 drivers working on a visitor's visa and of those 7 did not hold a commercial license.

Any enforcement is a welcome sight. When enforcement happens the word gets out and those who do not want to get caught will stop doing what is being enforced leaving the individuals who are utilizing these people unlawfully to scamper.
It doesn't take much - enforcement just has to start.

It's like a Christmas gift come early!
