Well, I guess I've been brokering freight for a long time.
When I started in this game... Morning phone calls were made from carriers to brokers and vice versa telling what was available.
Then came the age of the fax machine. Both carriers and brokers would fax what they had.
Then came the link and BAM! No one talks anymore. No one takes note of where a carriers lanes are anymore. No one cares about anything but the bottom line anymore. A broker only care about how cheap a load can be moved for. And a carrier only about how much they can get and how quick they can get their truck on the road.
Where I work we move about 1200 - 1500 shipments a month. I'll bet less than 100 of those are posted on the link.
Jeeze people... take an interest in who your "partners" are and your life will become a little easier. Choose your partners based on (if you're a broker) service, easiness to deal with, rates etc. (if you're a carrier) freight quality, quantity, payment patterns etc.
Is it worth it (as a carrier) to take a load that pays 100.00 more if you have to wait 120+ days for your money or be denied verifiable wait time etc.
Is it worth it (as a broker) to move a load 100.00 cheaper if the carrier is late, bad equipment, inferior drivers etc.
It's not that hard to build relationships guys. Pick up the phone, talk, visit each others facilities. You just might be surprised at how satisfying it can be.
