Carrier reference - ISG Express, Toronto

On my DNU list

I booked a local move for a flatbed with Joe from ISG on May 25th. As it was a warehouse move, I booked the truck for the day. They were supposed to be at the shipper at 9 am. They didn't show until 11. When I called Joe around 9:45 looking for the truck, I was told they don't usually start until about 9:30 or so, and that the driver had to go fuel up first. WTF ?????? Anyway ..... they did eventually get there and do the work. My customer called me the next morning and said they had left their tarps there. When I called Joe, he asked if I thought they should go get them. I'll leave it to your imagination as to my response.
The next day I got a call from IPS asking if I intended on paying the invoice they were going to send me. It seems as if they were kinda apprehensive about this account. Probably for good reason.

They are on my DNU list.

Also on my DNU list.

About a year ago... We gave them 1 skid Chicago to Mississauga for 3 weeks in a row... paid them 300.00 each time... they did the job - no issues. On week 4 they all of a sudden wanted 375.00 because there weren't very many trucks in Chicago that day so they felt we should pay more.

Which ISG is which??

I am always suspicious of companies who name themselves close to other company names. Having said that, good luck getting copies of their authorities and insurance, and WSIB......... forget it.

Once they get their money from IPS, communication appears to end.

ISG Express

We are going through a bit of a Nightmare with ISG Express (41 Westside Drive) now as well.

ISG Picked up 1 skid from Winnipeg, MB on June 4th to deliver to Montreal. On June 7th our dispatcher called to track the shipment and was told it was delivered. Later in the afternoon our client called looking for his freight, our dispatcher called back and was told that no, the freight had not delivered but was still in Winnipeg - we were then told that the driver had a medical emergency and was not legally able drive with a trailer and had to Bobtail from Winnipeg to Toronto.

Long Story short, the trailer was recoverd by ISG some time last week but has still not been delivered as of this afternoon, and ISG has informed us he will not deliver the freight unless he is paid up front. We are sending a Rep over to the consignee to meet the driver with a T-Check just to have this problem go away.

Needless to say, DNU.

Follow up

The truck finally showed up at my reciever at 7:30pm yesterday (it was an ISG truck)

Glad to have this behind us.

I also recently had a disappointing experience with ISG Express. They were about 1 week late on a delivery to Western Canada and maintained it had something to do with the driver being held up at a delivery in MB. The story changed near the end of week 1 to the driver being held at scales somewhere and not being allowed to drive. For what reason? I am not sure.

I think that when someone is a week late... they never intended on delivering when they said they would (or when you asked them to.

Just my two pennies

Supply and Demand

Also on my DNU list.

And your problem with that is??? Its a supply and demand situation called economics. Do you really think you should get product for a lower price when other customers are willing to pay a premium. Wake up to the real world economy.

There is a big problem with that!!!

I am a trucker and not a broker and am stating that ; that attitude is despicable and a big cause of the problems we are having in this industry.

Firstly, because any business that changes established rates without discussing the matter with the other party is simply dishonest.

Secondly, if the rate goes up, it certainly comes down when there are too many trucks. Then the skid becomes $200.00, de stabilizing the complet market structure.
This now allows brokers to say ; the last carrier moved it for this rate, and here lies the problem.

So if the ISG is too stupid to realize that he just added ammunition to his downfall, good ridance.

From other comments on this site , due to service isuues , he seems headed that way!!!
