Good afternoon Everyone,

We have been exposed to a possible identity theft today. Emailed on LL and DAT posting by an American broker JTS Express INC / Jones National out of Carson, CA, USA.

Now days US brokers/carriers out of California and Texas are a big red flag, but given the long weekend we emailed them. Denzel got back to us with a Rush order that seemed to work ratewise and we provided him with our package. He asked for a bunch of details about the driver ( which was a bit of a red flag but again nothing unusual these days). Driver name, phone, driver licence number, copy of DL (which we said will provide after tendered, dispatch name, number and MC#. He said tender on the way and then disappeared.

When I started to look carefully, what I didnt pay attention to is the email in the posting did not match their domain ( denzel@saledep.com). I contacted the actual brokerage company (JTS Express) took a little time. They have confirmed someone is using their DAT without their consent and they have reported it.

In my opinion this is total BS, because DAT requires phone number verification every 30 days. Therefore it must be an insider or them just doing shady business on the side. Wouldnt surprise me considering our industry everyone tries to screw one another these days.

Long story short, we received an email verification from mycarrierpackage a few hours ago for a setup with USA Truck. Which we obviously did not contact to book a load. I jumped on the phone, but everyone is half way out of the office already and not trying to deal with this mess.

Here is my question, someone has your carrier package and all the details about you. How do I prevent this spiralling further into a complete mess?

You give out DL info?? Pretty sure that is a big no-no with privacy laws. Had a broker demand we send our driver info same as above. No idea who did the skid but not us.. I am finding for the most part not even worth a call to US brokers right now they are all stuck on .80 cpm up to a whole buck fifty. I would rather not waste the call.

Thanks for teh heads up on the scammer.

Good point, we actually had a large broker ask us for info a few days ago, I dont see how they can really use DL# and name to their advantage. In this case I do agree with you it was strange to see copy of DL...

Yes US brokers are cheap, but wensday before a long weekend bring desperate measures...

Stay safe!

That DL in the wrong hands is a new identity for some scumbag and a whole pile of grief for your driver. Company pilocy around hear we do not and will not give out personal info,
