I have a question for anybody that could have an answer.

I have a load In Fall River, MA going to Point Roberts, WA 98281. The load has to cross thru Canada to get to destination. You will see on a map, that it is a tip of an island that is just cut-off.

Would I have to use a bonded US carrier or can I use a Canadian carrier to move this load.

Any feedback is a appreciated.

An American carrier (truck trailer driver all American) can do the whole move OR a Canadian carrier can do a portion of the move but not the complete/whole move. Not sure if I can find the regs on this but I have done it before (sat with US INS and released).

Us bonded carrier

You will require a US carrier that is also Canadian bonded.

Due to the point of origin and destination being both in the USA you must use an American. A Canadian carrier would be subjected to cabotage laws and could not proceed legally.

Unless the load would clear at the point of entry into Canada the carrier would have to bond the load through Canada (one of the purposes of the bond).

You will often run into Americans on the 17 doing just this heading from New England into Upstate MI and beyond!
