Can anyone tell me about CAI Logistics, Moncton, NB? We picked up five loads for them back in October and every day they are coming up with a new excuse. Before they were telling me that they will pay me when they get paid from the government for their army loads. They got paid almost a month ago. I have been calling them every week . They owe me about $25,000. My concern is if I will get paid???

Put in a complaint to (DND) Department Of National Defence. If you dont know how call the Receiving department at the base you delivered to and get the info from them.

your not the only one waiting for money.....apparently there waiting to get paid to start paying bills.

CAI also has a shipping company and apperantly have a boat that they are trying to pay for , collected my money by lawyer at 20%, bad company, good luck.

CAI is an aboriginally owned transportation logistics company formed in September 2001 by David L. Chaulk. Mr. Chaulk is President and CEO.
I imagine that even a lawyer would experience difficulty collecting from them.

If it helps, I do remember talking to these cats a couple of years ago. CAI is the agent that delivers ANYTHING to Gander/Happy Valley NF. Apparently, they do work with all the major transport companies as a beyond carrier at Quebec City (or somewhere near there.) So if CAI is getting paid by Day & Ross and others, and getting paid big dollars just to go to that part of the world I might add, there's no reason why they are not paying others.

 We did the load for them last November - still haven't got paid? Called shipper, told me they paid CAI ALREADY - what should I do? HELP!!!

Foreveryoung,

Depending if the freight was prepaid or collect - the shipper and/or consignee are responsible even if CAI was forwarded the funds.

If the amount is substantial and either the shipper/consignee is local to you - file papers in small claims court. Advise them they are responsible via the Bill of Lading/Mercantile Act - regardless if CAI was paid - and file against them. It will be marked on their credit.

At the very least - someone should start dealing with you directly - cut out the delinquent "middle man" and pickup a new customer from this unfortunate situation. If the parties involved are not in the transport industry - they are unfamiliar with transport law and the "linking" of all parties when a signed bill is involved. Stay on it and file if you don't get any new business out of it and/or the receivable amount is significant. It is not that difficult to file in court and once you are familiar with proceedures - you will have gained a very valuable collection tool to utilize. Hopefully not to be used very often....

Good Luck & keep members posted.

We had the same problem...finally got fed up waiting for a response from Jamie. We had to go over and wait until they would write us a cheque.
