Afternoon All,

I've noticed over the years being in transport - guys lunches are getting more elaborate and at times...larger. Dispatcher's lunches are usually traditional leftovers - meat & potatoes with gravy and veggies. Basically...a dinner...but eaten at 12 noon.

I've always been astonished at the amount of food some guys can eat for lunch. I wonder how they stay awake after finishing it? How they can sit at their desk for the remainder of the day not "hunched" over? How they don't get stomach aches with all that food? And how they can still eat snacks for the remainder of the day?

Jeez...So...I decided to give it a try myself today. Now...I am the usual salad eater with veggies - every day. Not a lot of change ups - maybe the odd addition of tuna. And I start my day with egg whites (no I'm not a goodie goodie with eating...still have treats in my desk). So this was a first for me. I brought in the chicken from dinner with veggies and potatoes - all in gravy.

Outcome?

I can't move...too stuffed...gravy down my shirt and splashes of it all over my desk. Topped off with my cutlery falling into the container and 20 napkins used to wipe it all off.

What I learned?

Stick to salad & leave the "man lunches" to the men....(sigh)...not in their league....but I gave it a shot.

We have large lunches around our household. Granted maybe not on weekdays. But it is something you get used to . I like it. You have a larger meal at lunch and then you just have something small for dinner. Then your stomach is not full at bedtime. Just personal preference, I think!

Used to eat all kind of things anytime, until I met with my nutritionist.
Lost 80 pounds. Still eating a lot but not crappy foods and at regular times.
For lunch time, best is meat and veggies. No carbs whatsoever or about 1/2 cup. Same with diner at night.
The trick is to eat between meals. That way, you are not mega hungry when lunch or diner comes in.
But yah, I see many huge lunches and I'm always wondering how can they not have a crash down at 3pm!
But then again, they are also wondering why they are not loosing weight so....lol

Best advice is, eat when you are hungry, eat slow, and stop when you don't feel hungry.
Sounds simple but tough to do.
The timing of too many meals is based on when your job allows, or when the rest of the family eats.
How many meals do we eat during the week when we are not that hungry? But it's lunch "time" or "dinner" time.
It is a lot healthier to eat when your body tells you to.
Plus we have been told since we were kids to not leave anything on your plate.
I used to work with a guy who whenever you asked him if he wanted to grab lunch, he would look at his watch to help him decide if he was hungry.
If his watch ever stopped, he would probably starve to death...........

"If his watch ever stopped, he would probably starve to death..........."
That's friggin' hilarious.

<----- Me, I just go after picnic baskets ... LOL

Personally, I never eat breakfast, rarely eat lunch, always eat supper. Never more than 2 cups of coffee a day, but lots of water. Popsicles for snacks ... even when it's -40 out. Out of my chair every 20 to 30 minutes for 3 to 5 minutes.

Atta boy Michael!
We call one of our drivers Yogi because he is just a little "smarter than the average bear"

Hahaha ... I actually got the nickname from one of my son's friends ... seemed like every time he came to the house, I'd be having a grampy nap on the couch ... LOL
