BEWARE OF ROCKMAN TRANSPORT DORVAL QUEBEC and many many others

It just goes to show you that no matter what someone is biting...I have a simple resolution, don't use them. I stopped dealing with them all long ago... All that anyone can do is say no and keep digging, getting worked up over double brokering p's.o.s is useless.

Quebec Brokers

Might as well be dealing directly with the MAFIA. Not much difference. Same scam different names.

Most of this website consists of carriers who complain (rightfully so) about being burnt for thousands of dollars by dishonest or just plain bad business men and woman who are load brokers. Here is a few suggestions.
1. Hire a sales person, get your own customers and just dont deal with anyone you dont know or trust.
2. If you can't afford a full time sales person maybe find a few sales agents who will represent you for a commision which is normally around 5 points. It is certainly worth it when you figure the differance between wholesale (broker payout) and retail (shipper payout)
3. If that doesnt appeal to you then maybe hire a telemarking person to get on the phone and call every shipper you can find and let them know what you do. You would be surprised what they can uncover if you just hire the right person and give them some time.

We all want to be in business but too many of you leave it up to somebody else to provide the most important thing you need. A customer!!!!

I agree Whatiship we do a very good credit check on people and know your customers we have up to 200 on the go at any one time and I can call our recievable clerk in and she can update on where every invoice sits, she knows all of their trends (how long does it take them to pay etc) and she knows names of who to talk too. If a customer alway pays in 35 days and all of a sudden it goes over that for any reason check it out immediately it is the first sign of trouble. Just because somebody says we don't pay for 60 days from date of receipt does not make it right, in our company 30 days or less is the only acceptable terms and we will call constantly once the 30 days is up even if we know we won't get a cheque for 60 days because guess who is first to get the cheque - the one who they do not want to hear from anymore - but remember always be nice until it's time not to be nice, you can be the squeaky wheel but don't tick them off. If we have one bad feeling with a new customer we do not deal with them, your gut is sometimes the best way to judge somebody and it is usually right.

I agree. Everytime I have ignored my gut feeling it has left burn marks on my tush....

here we go again

YRC Logistic had 4 loads for Marathon Oil from Ontario They give all their Canadian freight to Rockman who then double brokers it This time Denis Cyr Transport tried to broker them for 2200 The loads started out around 3000 US YRC sees nothing wrong with this go figure The question does Rockman own Denis Cry or is it triple brokered

Yes Rockman does own Denis Cyr as I did a load for Denis Cyr and Rockman paid the invoice. Well I should say they pay their bills anyway

WOW !!!! This is big news. Rockman doesnt pay their bills for all the double brokering but they have the $$$ to buy a carrier. I have noticed Transport Denis Cyr posting freight for a few weeks now, I guess it must all be double brokered also but thats only a guess. I presume we can now put them in the same BS category. Remember, Rockman has no customers of their own, 100% of ROCKMAN's freight is double brokered, had lunch with a former employee 2 weeks ago he let me in on a few company secrets.

This doesnt surprise me, after all the name Rockman in trucking has such a bad reputation that it makes sense for them to use another name. I presume some of these US freight forwarders must have Rockman on their NU List. I'm updating my NU list right now .

They are now on our DNU list. We only ever used as a last resort. Not good that they need to buy a company so they can get people to take freight from them.

Here's a simple cure for double brokering...I give my shipper the MC/USDOT number of the carrier I send in. If the MC/USDOT number is different the shipper calls me with the MC/USDOT and I contact the carrier with THAT MC/USDOT directly...and assuming they are properly insured...I offer the load to them and at the rate I offered the double broker joker. That way the load gets covered..the guy who does the work gets a bigger slice..and the double broker joker gets nothing for his tricks. It's a simple but very effective cure.

Kind of hard to stop the double brokering when the honcho at YRC condons Rockman double brokering because he already took 400 of the top and doesn't care who hauls his freight I wonder if the brass at YRC are aware of Rockman's reputation and if Marathon Oil cares They pay top buck and get cheap service

apparently they don't care...however in the event of a major problem they might start to care.

great updates on Canadian Trucking Watchdog pertaining to Rockman Heard from a reliable source they got a comcheck for their load

Rockman transport

WE DID TWO LOADS FOR THEM AND WHEN 30 DAYS WAS ARRIVED THEY TOLD US THE CHECK WILL BE MADE ONE WEEK LATER AND THE CHECK WAS NOT READY SO I TOLD US ABOUT THE NAME OF THE COMPAGNIES WHO WAS ON THE BILLS AND THEY SIGN ME THE CHECK IN THE SAME THEY 45 DAYS LATER....:eek:SERIUS COMPAGNIES.

Sending me post-dated check for Invoice dated 12/09 - check date 04/10. Invoice date 02/10 - check date 04/10.

This only after I contacted the main brokers. From what I learned they were legitimately co-brokering the loads.
