Does anyone know of any carriers to watch out for who knowingly back solicit? I would suspect it to be less than 5% of carriers.

Back Soliciting

Any time we had any real problems with it, always turned out to be a large carrier. The information from the load goes thru several people in a large company and sales reps for them dont know or dont care. Next thing you know, they are knocking on the door of your customer. Smaller carriers, (most of them anyway) have a code of ethics and I have never had a problem with someone around about the same size we are

Back soliciting

I once worked with a very good salesman for a larger Montreal based carrier. He had the interesting habit of following any common carrier's truck to its pick up point while returning from lunch. He would return at a later date and offer his companies services.

I would imagine that everyone has been back solicited at some time by some company or other..... once you ask about a specific company, then you will see the responses come flooding in or you will see older threads. This is a great site for info! :)

I would have to agree with you on this one, the smaller carriers have way better ethics when it comes to this crap. We have had our own drivers report sales reps from other carriers AND brokers follow them straight into a customers shipping office to try and set up meetings. Fortunately for us, our customers for the most part have told them where to stick their business cards. I would love to throw names out there, but how do you do that without it coming back and biting you in the butt?

It never ceases to amaze me how carriers do not realize that they are cutting their own throats when they back solicit accounts. Our customers usually call us and let us know if a carrier approaches them for the business and guess what we stop using them for all freight.

Ditto... There are a lot of shippers that would rather deal with a broker and a lot that would rather deal carrier direct. Most shippers that have the quantities of freight that would attract a carrier that are currently dealing with a broker have a reason for dealing with a broker.
