Booked a team load for time sensitive shipment.. 3 days late with countless breakdown lies, showed up with single driver... held load hostage until I wired payment in full, along with another invoice that had nothing to do with this shipment. needless to say I am now the one out several thousand dollars for 3 days of crane & crew back charges. Owner was very rude and verbally abusive to me, and I had done nothing wrong. one of the worst transport services I have ever received. trust your freight with this outfit? good luck! they will definitely be hearing from our attorney.

I've no comment on the service from this provider, they do however have a great top ten list right on the website:

Top Ten Reasons to Chose AYR Motor Express
Freight terminals in all major shipping hubs of Canada
Expedited freight service, we take your load from here to there
Superior truckload service at competitive rates
Reliability
Just in Time Service
Fleet of Thin Wall Trailers; prevents freight load damage
We take pride in our customer service; we don't go home until the job is done RIGHT!
Trans border freight shipping from all points in Canada and the United States.
Flexibility: Truckload Direct Services
Freight Dispatch operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week

Also - their motto is "The best is the least we can do".

Hostages are never fun, thankfully they are rare (I'd have more greys). I'm glad yours is over (from the perspective of the consignee).

Keep well,
Mike

I've always said their motto should be 'the worst is the least we can do'. Over the years, I seem to remember them never following instructions, just picking up and delivery as they saw fit. If the freight was time-sensititve, I'd fight against having them move any of it.

that being said, I could give you the top 10 reasons, "not" to use Ayr ..in my eyes their moto is "the worst is the best they can do.

Flat bed, your experience is identical to the one I had a few years back with these clowns, only back then, they didn't hold the freight hostage. As a result of their delays and lies, I short paid their invoice for back charges incurred. It would appear that they now know their invoices will be shorted and are resorting to the hostage route. In deed, the owner is a real piece of work who believes he can always get his own way by acting like a bully. A real exception to the pleasant attitude and great service we receive from most East Coast carriers.

I couldn't agree more loaders! The back charges won't be half as bad as the litigation they will now face. Time to teach them a little lesson in etiquette!
