We just received this email about this carrier.....can't confirm any of it...but it is getting to be the same old song..

We just had a run in with a carrier called 6241948 Canada Inc (o/a Arthur Logistics), they are located at 1206-120 Torresdale Ave, Toronto , Ontario, M2R 3N7. They picked up a shipment for us on July 7, 2009 in Chicago and was to deliver in Mississauga July 8. Dispatch tried tracking the shipment and did not get in contact with anyone until July 9. They gave us the excuse the truck was broke down and was delayed, we asked they why did anyone from your company call us or return any of our calls for two days, they had no excuse. The freight was redirected to Scarborough on Friday July 10 and was to deliver early afternoon to the consignee. Dispatch tried to track the freight and the trucking company could not find the truck!!!! As the discussion escalated the persons at Arthur dispatch (Vlad or Alex) stated that we are not delivering the freight until we get paid first, thus holding our freight hostage. As the conservation escalated further the resorted to extortion and demanded more money before they would deliver.

As I saw this was going nowhere and our dispatch were being cussed at by Arthur Logistics, I instructed that if they did not deliver the freight on Friday that Monday morning that I would show up at their office with a York Regional police officer and a truck to get the freight back. They asked for more money and then we terminated the conversation at that point to follow through with our plan that we stated them on Friday.

Monday morning as I was getting ready to go to their facility with the police they said that they would deliver the freight to our dock for the original agreed amount, only if they received a certified cheque. I inspected the freight and gave these people their money.

Needless to say that companies like this will do this again and I do not wish anyone to go through this ordeal. I have attached Arthur Logistics information so you can put them on your carrier do not use ever list.
 
I honestly sympathize with your situation, no one needs that bull$#%. I do have a question though. Moving LTL from Chicago to Mississauga is probably the easiest thing going. Every day there are plenty of well known reputable carriers looking to move LTL back to the GTA. It is not the kind of lane that you would need to try out some carrier that you have never dealt with before. What was it that made them the carrier you chose to deal with in the first place? Just curious.
 
I received the same warning email and I too sympathize BUT if they were actually doing proper checks on carriers before they used them they would have noticed that the information Arthur provided them was fake/inaccurate. I saw that right away when I looked at the attachment. The MC, DOT WSIB #'s Arthur provided are not right. That would have been my first indication that these people were slimey. But I thoroughly check out new carriers BEFORE I use them if they are new.
 
I'm just passing on the warning it was not us that used them. I agree 100% there is very little reason (other than going for the cheapest carrier possible) to move freight with a company that you have no history with. There are 2 very old sayings that are very relevant in our business "you get what you pay for" and "if it is too good to be true then it usually is".
 
No. Bernadette operates a reputable company known as Arthur Transport. Not to be associated in any way with Arthur Logistics also in Mississauga. Trusted partner in our office for many years.
