Can someone provide a carrier lead for the following delivery location for LTL shipments with an Origin of Toronto.

Amazon.com.dedc LLC

MURFREESBORO, TN 37127
US (BNA3)

Apparently our client provided us with the following requirements.

"We require a carrier that will book an appointment with Amazon using their Carrier Appointment Request Portal (CARP) see instructions below.

To schedule a delivery appointment, follow these steps:
1. Download and complete the FBA Booking Form. Most of the shipment information is found in the Summary page of the shipping workflow. - This has been completed by XXXXX
2. E-mail the form to your carrier along with a link to the User Manual for Carriers. - This has been completed by XXXXX
3. Have your carrier create an account (if they don't already have one) and log into the Carrier Appointment Request Portal to request an appointment.
the attached document is the Amazon Booking form which details the Amazon Reference ID as well as the Shipment ID:

We've had a number of carriers refuse to do deliveries to this location, can someone provide some insight?

What you'll probably have to do is set it up so that you operate the portal on behalf of the carriers. I believe that the reason why so many would refuse to do it is because with LTL it is so hard to pinpoint the actual delivery time.

The actual best way to do it is to find someone who is a specialist in the area on making the final deliveries to the DC where you would deliver to their place, and they'd go on from there. My guess would be to hook up with someone from FedEx Freight or something like this.

Theman,

Thanks, we are looking at that option as well, finding a local p&d agent, and just have polaris or someone drop the freight on their dock, and have the local carrier do the last mile delivery.

Just wasn't sure if any carriers serviced amazon on a regular basis, besides the overpriced incumbent freight carriers.

We use Estes all over the United States, drop at various docks, they have one in Nashville that is pretty good and chances are they already deliver into Amazon.

We will have an LTL truck headed that way this week. But keeping an appt on LTL is the hard part. Very hard to manage that.

Hi Eric,

We have used Polaris directly to the Hebron, KY Amazon DC. Their delivery agent there set up the appt. and delivered with no issues. Otherwise, we have also used Day and Ross who uses R&L Carriers as their US counterpart. Only issue there is if you get up over a few skids, the prices get a little exuberant.

As you are probably aware, Polaris will be adding a fee for appt. deliveries starting March 16th. I've heard it's $25.00 which I believe is fair. I can't believe they've gone this long without any extra fees on this.

Polaris doesn't do direct deliveries everywhere. Their own trucks actually run a core few lanes and then they use interline partners for 'beyond' points. I'd say they probably do Hebron, KY themselves because that's just outside Cincinatti, but I doubt they'd be doing Murfreesboro. Just like they partner with carriers like CF to handle the deliveries in Western Canada, they're probably handing off deliveries in that area to someone like Estes or ODFL, who have good presence in the area.

And I agree with TransAction ... on small orders they're great. On large LTL orders the pricing isn't very good, but it's probably not what they want anyway.

Just like every other carrier out there, Polaris are very good at some things, pretty good at others, and don't bother to call them on the rest (anything over 1/3 load +/-). Certainly smaller (3-5 skids) LTL to the East and Mid US is right in their sweet spot. Haven't tried them on Western Canada yet. Use them regularly on a scheduled California LTL. Service and especially communication are above average in our experience, and unlike some larger, multi-department carriers, you can get someone on the phone who can actually make a decision on the spot.

I have had to do the same thing with KEHE Distributors. At the time they used a system called C3 Reservations. C3 don't allow 3rd party companies to make an account to book appointments so I lied, got an account and booked the appointments my carriers wanted and put a comment about "local carrier XYZ for final delivery"
Didn't have many issues except for the fact that you cannot reach anyone and they would take 5 mins to 3 days for the actual receiving warehouse confirm your appointment.
Made me wonder why they would use an outside program to request an appointment that you then have to confirm manually..

Thank you everyone, We do a fair amount of work with Polaris, and the freight we looking at moving is in the Polaris range (1-4). Anyone have a contact for a sales rep @ Estes or ODFL who manages Canadian clients? Maybe we should consider building a relationship with those two carriers.

This is the only person we have dealt with at Estes as far as setting up and maintaining our account and answering any and all questions.
Lockhart, Donna <donna.lockhart@estes-express.com> I'm sure they have a Canadian Rep but I wanted to eliminate that part and drop at any dock we chose for our benefit.
