Amazon 3PL entry

Great idea cut already shitty US rates. Time for people to tell Amazon to go pound salt. I see it all over the interweb that they are cheap cheap do not want to pay waiting time etc yet people still haul the crap?? I do not get it and for the life of me cannot get past why trucking companies continue to shoot themselves in the foot.

Last years blip of out of this world freight rates was and has as expected by most crashed and I am seeing rates being offered for intra US van work of under a buck a mile. Falcon is only the beginning if the current market trends continue. Those that live and die on spot market freight sure have changed their tune on pricing year over year and I get a chuckle with how low some are willing to go to secure a load. Better to park against the fence and go broke sitting at home watchin I love Lucy reruns as to pounding your ass down the road for nothing. 2019 is looking like a rollercoaster ride and in the end I do believe the trucking landscape will certainly be different come next spring.

"Free shipping"! I have always wondered what is meant by that saying. I have been in this business for 40+ years and I have yet to find a carrier, large, small, courier, whatever, that will transport goods for no charge. So it must mean that the supplier of the product is incorporating the shipping charges into the price of their product. Ah.....now here comes the kicker (there is always a kicker). A large supplier such as Amazon, has so much clout, that they can drive down their transportation costs thereby increasing their profit without changing the price of their goods one cent. In other words, their increased profits is a result of their suppliers doing the same job for less money. Or as Rob so eloquently said 'trucking companies continue to shoot themselves in the foot"
