We are about to start hauling by next week. I have asked the broker, they say I only need to prepare PAPS and PARS for customs and crossing.

But am I supposed to do the ACE manifest also? Sorry to ask, I am really a newbie for dispatching.

Thanks.

Your Ace needs to be submitted electronically to US customs before your driver arrives at the border.

Normally as noted in the other thread, you need to do it yourself via the ACE portal, or hire a 3rd party provider to do it for you.

Don't forget that ACI (Canadian equivalent to ACE) is coming this fall.

I'm guessing that this is a small operation so using borderconnect.com or some other 3rd party might be expensive to start. The US Customs ACE portal is fairly simple to use. After looking at some of the sites available, the US portal is basically the same but without the cost. You can go to the US border Security website and find your way into how to set up an account. If you pay attention to what you are doing there, you can save your shippers and consignees and make life easier on yourself. We do several shipments each week and find it simple enough to use that site.

We use the ACE Portal multiple times per week and it's very simple to use. If you have any problems setting up an account, their help line is really good also.

I have just registered with the borderconnect.com. How do I get the entry number? Do I just fill out the manifest info and send to CBP, that is all?

And for coming back to Canada. Do I need to do anything except put the pars sticker on the invoice?

Thank you everyone for the replies, it is very helpful.

To come back to Canada, for now, you need to put your PARS sticker on the invoice and fax/email to the custom's broker. Send along any other paperwork you are given, like a bill of lading, certificate of origin etc because some brokers require them to set up the clearance. Specify which port you are crossing at and at what time. Then before you get to the border call the broker to confirm it has been set up. This will be changing in the fall when you need to start setting up an ACI manifest, but for now this is not necessary.

Thank you chica , now I have an idea about it.
