We have Rogers cell account with roam like home and newer Samsung A32 5 g phones. When we enter the USA with the 5G roaming on we can't make any phone call's in or out. switch network setting and t-Mobil will work as they are still using 3G unitl sometime this summer before they cut that off. Roger say they are working to solve the problem but as of yet only 4 or 5 of their phones are able to roam on the AT & T 5 g network. Anyone else running into this problem or have a work around? My rep at Roger says he has hundreds of these complaints with no solution.

That what I received not long ago..

"Freedom Mobile Roaming Notification: Igor, we have an important update for you. Wireless providers in the USA are shutting down their 3G services on July 1st, 2022. Once their 3G services are shut down, your current device will no longer be able to support voice calling including 911 calls while roaming in the USA (including Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands). Your services in Canada will not be impacted."

Just to clear, they have an old phone on file..

"Rogers have started to roll out 5G roaming on select devices in the United States, and more devices will have this feature over time."
So not all 5 g devices will work at this time, Rogers list Samsung S20 and Google Pixel phones capable of accessing 5 g network while roaming on At&t in \USA.

It may be that we need 5 g sim cards, if there is such a thing? I've just taken the old sim out of the old phone and put in a new 5 g phone, but did read somewhere that the new phones need a 5g sim card? I guess back to the rogers guy for clarification?

I know on my phone I have to have Roaming On under cellular options. Here is my screenshot from IOS - I don't have a Samsung. I keep it off until I go to the US and need it.

A quick google search found this:

Remember that calls over 5G are using VOIP ie data. 3G would not support it.

The crazy thing is that data, texting or e-mail isn't a problem, just the phone calls in or out. I was just over to buffalo today and using a dual sim 5 g phone, the rogers wouldn't call out but once I switched to the AT&T sim no problem making or receiving calls. Rogers tech says he has written up hundred of support tickets on this, but that it has something to do with the agreement rogers & at&t have on sharing services.
