Hi All,

Can anyone enlighten me on how I can get Comchecks and whom to reach out to as a broker? I asked my bank, TD, and they don't seem to know anything about them.

Thanks in advance!

I used to get them from the Husky on Dixie road. They might charge you a dollar.

Some banks have never seen Com Cheks. I use BMO and they would cash them for me. It has been a long time since i have received one.

Once you obtain the ComChek( it looks like a cheque) you will be given a series of numbers from your client. Fill in those numbers and you can make the deposit into your bank. Depending on the amount, Husky might cash it for you.

Thanks all. To be clear here, what i am looking for is in situations where we need to pay for lumpers and they tell us they accept com checks. How does this work exactly?

You need to set up an account with Com Chek. It might be easier to e transfer them

Should be easy enough to do. We had an account with Comdata, or Comchek (I can't remember which at this point), and you basically filled in an online form (like sending an e-transfer from your bank). After you put in all the relevant information and hit send, it would give you an express code. Whoever is receiving the funds writes the express code on their blank comcheck and they cash it in at any place that accepts comchecks.

i send tchecks or com check all the time, some people refuse to work with ch robinson so they dont use their checks

I checked out the Comdata website, seems to be what I need. Fyi, they now have a mobile app to replace paper comcheks which seems interesting....https://www.comdata.com/

Has anyone cashed a comcheck at a Canadian Bank? Landstar set us up on their savings plus so all the money is going on the card, only way to get it off of there is to write a comcheck to yourself.

Yes we have done it - you write the com check -
when you go to the bank they call in and verify and get the authorization number
shouldn't be an issue sat all

Thanks, what bank if you don't mind me asking? I remember long ago cashing a tcheck at CIBC however the new tellers don't really know much these days

Wow, Comcheck! I would have thought that EFTs would have kicked Comcecks down the same road as fax machines and typewriters. Being a techno dinosaur, I can’t explain how it works but it appears all you need is a cell phone and a bank account and money can be sent to and from anyone, anywhere in the world, at anytime of the day or night.
