Cheap Freight of the Day

I find the same. Payback is a bitch, and the market never favors one party for very long.

I should add, though, that things around here aren't without problems.. but I'm usually at least partly to blame so I keep that part to myself.

We try and come to an agreement on year round pricing that is fair for everyone and we have a lot of carriers that know week in week out the price is the price so they haul for us when other rates are higher because they know they will get the same rate when rates are at the lowest. It really evens out in the end.

Morning and Happy Friday,

Rob,

I understand people in dispatch who look at history, pick the lowest number they see and try to cover for that rate (we do quite a few of these loads). That being said, looking at a few dozen payables from the June-October months which proves year after year to be more economical than the period from November - May on this lane was obviously a bad decision. I work hard to help people learn from their mistakes and will speak to her about this lane. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

In the future, ask for me, I'll do a thorough review of the lane and offer you a fair price. Of course, if you still have a truck I've got a load for ya. :)

Keep well,
Mike

And anything I have ever done for you has always been a fair rate.

I have had this discussion with the member in question before on their rate playing. Play fair and we will also, play dirty and in the long run the carrier will usually win in the end we are the ones with the trucks after all..

I find its a lot easier selling a customer on $2.80/mi than a truck on $1.15. If the customer doesn't bite on the rate I lose nothing.. if the customer accepts I can move his load in a flash and I've made a decent commission too. I don't pay too much attention to the rating programs.. they assume all transportation companies are the same and price is the only difference. And if you don't stand up for yourself and the value that you provide then no one else will..

Some of the XPO guys are quite arrogant. That guy is on the top of the arrogant list. I had myself taken off of his broadcast because I found the rates he offers are an insult. We decided that we work with other agents at XPO who are much more respectful and fair so why invite those little moments of frustration when they can be avoided

Good luck to them ... and the fact that XPO through operating units has trucks on the road and will still flog crap like this is really a shame.

xpo wins the cheap freight of the day contest again.....offering Mankato MN to Pickering ON = first words out of his mouth, no detention at pickup and no detention at delivery - oh and its going to loblaws but thats just the way it works. 1650 cdn for a full truck load.
all you can do is laugh and hang up

Let me guess Chris in the BC office? Blames it all on sales. I think he wants to be the hero that sells cheapest. I just quit calling the BC office's postings.
