Are they based in Montreal?

Yes

@MTLDISPATC - I can't find Mannan Transport just Mannan Trucking. Do you have any details on this company? ie contact info, MC#, etc

I do not see an MC# for this company. Was your shipment cross border? I don't believe they have a brokerage license.

MANNAN TRANSPORT ARE SCAMMERS

Karamveer Mannan used to be dispatch at Transram Express out of Laval QC. At the time he applied for a job with us. Shortly after he quit Transram and started his own thing. Got a courtesy call from Transram saying that his former employee was back sollicitating and calling all his customers.

This makes it hard to trust new dispatchers or sales people, they come and pull the customer list then leave...rinse repeat and do all over again... We to hire people we know and trust and if we don't know you, they are not allowed to touch the TMS for 6 months... so many scams and bad actors out there....

I believe ths US is making non-compete clauses invalid - there is a huge discussion on FB in a trucking group on this

If your customer is happy with you - you should not have anything to worry about - esp. if there is a contract that you will be moving the freight

I agree but some customers are price driven, so if they cut it by 25. then we start to share our customer... We like to think we give great service and the communication is off the charts with us, ask anyone who pulls our loads... We are update crazy... lol

This only applies primarily to an employer/employee relationship and does not discuss contracts at a business level. For example Ford cannot expect an assembly worker to abide by a non-compete so as to not work at GM but they can contractually expect ABC manufacturing not to do business with a competitor. There is nothing in there stating that businesses cannot utilize non-compete clauses at the business level.

Exactly this. Nice automotive and "ABC" reference ;)

Many are going to disagree, buttttt I'm completely for non-competes at a sales level. We work hard to retain our clients and service them. We, the company, utilize the assets we've invested in and paid for. An employee is only successful at servicing those clients with our tools. They do not have rights to the clients; we, the company, do because it's our assets and investments that make the relationships successful. But having someone come in, learn your business, and steal your book of business that they haven't worked for doesn't sit right with me. Either way, I could probably go all day on this and still get nowhere LOL

This is a very big deal, companies like TQL make it impossible to work for another 3PL for the duration of the non-compete and they are very litigious when ex-employees do. This does not effect non disclosure agreements and not sure how it will all play out plus the non-complete legislation is already being challenged in court by special interest groups

There should be a separate thread on this issue
