Hi

I have a dliema that I need advice on:

We picked an Amazon load from a broker (we are registered to ship direct with Amazon - but didn't know this was an Amazon load till we picked) and when we went to deliver in calgary, AB (live unload - got there 30min before appt. time) - we were told to wait .. wiated for 24hrs - no help from broker - called Amazon with updates - no movement.

24hrs later still not 'live unloaded' and the facility staff told my driver that he cannot leave / drop traielr to go get food/water or they will reject the laod and it will take 48-72 hours more to 'live offload'. I brought my driver home -

Trying to contcat broker - no response , shipepr hasn't contacted me - left them a message , AMazon hasn;t contaced me about teh laod - they have all the noets and back and forth... what do I do?

Thanks

Sounds like a shitty broker - email them that your brakes caught fire in the parking lot and the trailer became engulfed. You want to be forward thinking, so you're messaging them right away to put your insurance company in contact with theirs.

Then wait about 3 minutes and the phone should ring.

Did your driver have to use amazons app? if not I believe its not technically considered an AMAZON load. This seems like a shipper to Amazon DC load, which in that case the shipper would be the one responsible. For loads like those, shipper usually has to book appointments, and if they haven't they'll still take you but will take their time with the delivery. I'd try to confirm with the gatehouse/Warehouse staff what your actual appointment was for delivery or if you even had one. Had this happen to us with an intra-ontario amazon move where we picked up direct from a shipper (non-amazon facility or warehouse) and delivered to Amazon warehouse. Took them 4.5 hours to offload 6 skids with a lot of hassling from my driver. If you didn't use their APP to book or track the load, Amazon wont be much help. Not sure if it makes sense for you to return the load and charge back the broker/shipper or forget about your trailer for a couple of days till its offloaded and try getting compensated from the broker/shipper. Either way crappy situation, let us know how it goes and please do share the broker, saves us all from BS like this.

P.S some Amazon facilities will allow the driver to offload the trailer onto their dock floor as well. Weird I know but we did that once as well, they even gave our guy one of their pump trucks. Was the fastest way to be in and out.

Broker is Coyote ... and now I see JB Hunt on their bord posting an amazon load ... nut the load is not on the Amazon realy / spot bd... why is that ... if we picked direct from Amazon I am sure we wouldn;t have had an issue

Not sure tbh, but from what I understand the spot bids are for their internal moves (DC to DC) or mile before the final mile(post offices/van delivery depots). Anything inbound to them is handled by the shipper, which is why I'm assuming brokers get involved. Dont quote me on it lol

I have no experience whatsoever with Amazon loads, however if you have followed the instructions given to you by the original broker, kept records of each and every correspondence with the receiver, including any written notes given to the driver, then by all means you should dump this all aggravation back onto the broker and tell him that the clock has started running on detention time. If you feel that your accessorial charges, or the freight charges will not be readily forthcoming after delivery, then ask for payment in full prior to opening the trailer doors. The receiver is the brokers customer, they should be dealing with this.

Coyote explains a lot. Mega broker with a bunch of know nothings acting like they are freight gods. Best part is probably cheap to boot. Time to find someone at Coyote that does have a clue and go over whoever is calling themselves the broker on the load and find management type that can maybe make something happen or at least has a clue.

UPDATE:

broker emailed with suggested re-delivery times - for tomorrow / day after... I had called the shipper at various numbers and left detailed voice mail messages - suspecting this is why I got an email

I replied saying need a revised rate con before I deliver...also all planned up for this week - so will deliver next week... waiting for a response

UPDATE:
Had a new delivery appt and still wiating to be offlaoded - over 12hrs now - driver cannot leave facility. Broker is claiming I am making false accusations and other carriers are waiting patienlty and being offloaded (live unload) and I should do the same.

How do I claim human rights abuse .. I mean not letting the driver leave your facility to get food/water and then the broker saying I should be like all the other carriers and wait out the three/four days - when they did not say this in advavce / or when we were booked with a second attempt.

Amazon and Coyote - using their might to abuse truckers.... as always the one that rocks the boat is called told 'you are making false claims about the facility and staff'

And I guess you will not get compensated for waiting time. I do hope they unload shortly.......

thats insane man, was thinking about asking you how it went. Would they let your driver offload the trailer onto their dock? thinking out loud here but would that make more sense paying the driver extra rather than sit there and deal with the hassle...

situations like these is where we need to implement a service lean or something like a mechanics lean. Its criminal to have to then chase around for the DET and redelivery charges, only for the broker to avoid you like the plague and hope you give up. I mean how can you have false claims when you have a check-in time with the gate house and a check out when you are finally done. Blows my mind.

My driver did volunteer to offlaod onto their dock - he has a Dr appt tomorrow and now we are trying to rescue him as he has waited 4 months for this appt.

Update:
72 hours later we have been LIVE UNLOADED at the facility YYC1 - basically were told that this is the time it takes to live offlaod and you can rebook and everytime it will take this long...changed three drivers so one wasn't punished for 4 days

The last 48 hrs they did let the drivers go to truck stops to get food etc.. (human rights and all - after all we in canada buddy)

need suggestions on how to pursue this as a violation of our rights and time - this was a drop trailer by all standards - when I called amazon the last person I spoke to said 'you have two options wait now or rebook and wiat then - what would you like?'..... how is no one saying anything!!!!
