Who is still running this crappy system?

Today's dilemma...

Canadian ELD mandate requires that License Plate numbers be entered in the drivers log.
This was never required in the USA. Tractor Number and Tractor VIN sufficed.

There is nowhere within the Peoplenet system to add the tractor plate number and keep it stored.
I've asked customer service and the primitive response is the driver needs to add the plate number as an annotation!

Sounds like something that is going to be forgotten!

This is a 3rd party certified device and it doesn't even have all the required parameters to make it legal for the carrier.

Someone please tell me I'm not the first one who has run into this!

We had the same issue when ELD came in US. There is a way we chose. when you add unit numbers of trucks then do this in format. (UNIT)#- (Plate)# . It should work. this way log prints will have plate#s too.

Thanks for the response YYZ.
That is the only way I've found to do it.
The only issue I'm having is there is a character limitation. The newer trucks have 7 digit license plates. So that combined with our unit number is too long for the field.

Like I say, crazy that this is even an issue.

My little 15 truck fleet is trying to cross our t's and dot our i's and big business and government makes it near impossible to do it. That's trucking!

Sorry did not know about character limitation on your ELD provider. Keep trucking has no issue with our 4-digit unit numbers + Ontario plate numbers
