Double brokered 1 of 2 loads they did for us for sure. I am looking for the carrier who hauled the other load. Haul New Heights will not give me the PARS code. I know the 1 load was double brokered because the carrier who picked up became suspicious when he recognized the locations. They are also contacting us for other loads posted on Loadlink although they are not members of either Loadlink or DAT

Is this the company?

HAUL NEW HEIGHTS INC

  • U.S. DOT#: 3864907
  • Address: 101 WEST PORT PLZ FL 6
    SAINT LOUIS, MO 63146
  • Number of Vehicles: 3
  • Number of Drivers: 5
  • Number of Inspections: 1

Posting a bit more info will help.

Especially pick / delivery city
Should have mentioned some particulars as apparently the load that I know who the carrier is was triple brokered. The other was a reefer load from NJ to NB.

Should mention that I knew the FMSCA says 3 trucks but there is only 1 on their insurance policy.

They have one inspection, I checked SMS and got the VIN number of the inspected vehicle.

I googled the VIN: 1M2MDBAAXNS003360

This is a straight truck and 4 other companies had inspections on this vehicle. I didn't research the other companies to see if they are legitimate.

Coincidently I came across a LinkedIn post from Cassandra Gaines from Carrier Assure warning about the below:

"Carriers that intend to double broker your freight have found a new way to scam shippers and brokers.

They often know that shippers and brokers require at least one roadside inspection. So to work the system, the "carrier" will rent a box truck, work a little until they get an inspection, and then try to trick shippers and brokers into thinking that they can run a full truckload shipment. Many shippers and brokers won't even think to check the equipment on the inspection to make sure the carrier was inspected with the equipment for a full truckload shipment. The shipper/broker tenders a full truckload shipment and the "carrier" brokers it out to other carriers and takes off with the money."

Make sure to do a deep dive on the carrier when vetting. Why can't we get this level of detail in Canada?

As the crooks become more sophisticated and devious, we must bolster our defences and really tighten up our vetting procedures. There is no such thing as looking “too” hard at a potential new supplier. The good ones will take your extra attention as a compliment and justification that they are doing everything right, and have nothing to hide. If a new supplier balks or complains about your questions and inquiries, walk away. This applies equally to carriers and brokers alike.

Selling a crossborder load to a US carrier? Why not support Canadian companies eh? Instead of America first, it should be Canada first.

The VIN mentioned above is not under their insurance policy. Will have to check this going forward.

I also contacted Loadlink last week to inform them of this situation and that they were contining to call my dispatchers for loads on the Link. I still do not see an Alert on there.

NJ to NB is a pretty niche lane. Guys will run if they get desperate to move a truck but there's really only a handful of carriers that do it regularly.

Shouldn't be too hard to find.

Thank you all for the info. Haul New Heights has tried twice in the last 3 days to get set up with us...We did call some references and it appears they are doing an ok job and convincing people they are a carrier.

Be careful, we did not set up FYI. I have reported to Loadlink, hopefully they put out a warning.

Just a heads up we just had another US Carrier try the exact same story in regards to how they seen out load on Loadlink. Not sure if the same scam, but my gut is pointing me that way so I thought I would share. Just be cautious, as it appears to me that the US guys are beginning to prey on Canadian Brokers...

Carrier name: D&Z Transportation Group LLC
MC #1240048

emailing me a rate to Cali these guys must be huge already running east and west with no trucks lol. PS he wants a good $ to run it so maybe they are going to pay the poor bastard they double broker too. It won't be with my load but they might.. Email was from a HUGO same deal at gmail.
