they've been around since the mid 1940's and id bet money theyll be around for another 70 years. a top notch company with way too many good people on board. i am sure these are just "truck stop" rumours and nothing else.

I agree... I doubt that Empire is going anywhere.

I've dealt with them for as long as I've been brokering freight (over 25 years) and have never received anything but top notch service.

Some of their equipment is old but it's very well maintained.

The family is directly involved in the day to day operations.

I believe that they are very well run and I'd be shocked if they are having any trouble.

Of course in this economy... one never knows.

Yup, I doubt it too. But if it were true it wouldn't be due to low rates. These guys do a super job and charge accordingly. Power to them!
