Sure could help trucking companies with the bottom line if we could rid the industry of Double ,triple and co- brokers.. The eighties are gone and in today's internet age there is no need for it. None!

I haven't read 'every story out there', but do find on the whole when reading stories like this one and similar ones, these criminals are operating a double brokering operations without paying the hauling carrier. Looks like the story below they were convicted of wire fraud. Other stories from the US are similar. I love it when the criminals are brought to justice although unfortunately you'd be hard pressed to find laws directly applicable to the actions of these companies in the transportation realm. Rather, they are convicted of things like wire fraud. There is even less legislation to protect companies here in Canada, you really have to know who you are working with!!

Keep well,
Mike

and co- brokers..
I hope you realize this part of your comment is somewhat wrong and a legal contract exists for the co-brokering parties...

I agree 100% the double/triple brokering companies need to go away, but many carriers still do that on a day to day, and will never get caught...

It's not about the language used to describe the actions performed (double, tripple, co, innie, outtie, upper, lower...). It's about the intent to run a legitimate business (servicing customers and paying a fair rate to suppliers) OR you are a criminal scumbag and will get what you deserve (legally or Karma).

Keep well,
Mike

Yeah I guess even those doing business with all the bonds and authorities, etc can still skip out on payment, any and all of these types of people should be put in jail like this guy!
