Hi Everyone,

Just heard about it this morning. There is no press release yet but it's a done deal from what I understand. I don't see it working out so well for the staff in Richmond Hill.

No doubt they were bought for their book of business, not so much for their staff or tangible assets. But you know, good sales people are hard to come by.. and the smarter ones who have been looking after their accounts will have their accounts follow them where ever they go.

Lakeside hasn't sold transactional freight for years, it's all been done as a technology play. The executives are all getting on in years so this was inevitable. I do believe that Richmond Hill will end up closing just because the space in Oakville is better and there is much more invested there. The activity in Richmond Hill morphed into mostly being operations execution of accounts owned by reps in the US ... the sales reps are mostly gone from there at this point.

Richmond Hill will be staying open, it is a different animal than Lakeside and runs very efficiently. Lakeside is more corporate and Richmond Hill runs like a well oiled brokerage...

I was speaking with a good source yesterday who told me the Richmond Hill employees got opportunities to move to Oakville -- Richmond Hill operations will be closing up but not sure how quickly.

I was speaking to a couple of Transplace employees, they have not been offered opportunities to move to Oakville and have heard no mention of closing Richmond Hill-stay tuned!

Yes ... apparently my source that got me to post that either had bad info ... or maybe bad blood with someone. I still believe that long term there will be some sort of consolidation, just a matter of when and how.
