Has anyone had any dealings or issues with a company named Steelrite? The were in Rexdale but have recently moved to Richmond Hill. Appreciate any input , having quite an issue with them.

Don't know what happened to my posts...They are into us for over 80k now. I found out another carrier has the loads posted now, we haven't been paid since about the time of your posting above. I'm told the cheque will be mailed as soon as they get paid. I don't remember signing up to sponsor someone else's business. I expect a percent of the profits if you are using my money to run your company......

Anyone have a truck in Richmond hill that could drive by 500 Edwards ave to see who is moving this freight now. I would like to find out so they can hold some and maybe they can get paid. Into me for 85K and the guy before me for a lot more.

Skier,

For that amount of money that you are owed - I believe a visit to the business is warranted. I assume you have also contacted their customer and/or got all parties involved with this delinquent payment matter. I would not be sitting and waiting for them to get back to you on a receivable that high. I would also get started on the paperwork for small claims.

Note I am a broker and all of my carriers on this freight were paid in 30 days .....

.....Extreme Danger....., If you know of anyone moving freight for them or here the name at all please message me.

If they have filed for bankruptcy as it would appear by the list shown I am sorry to hear about your loss.
Once it goes through the court system and the secured creditors get their piece of whatever is left of the pie there will not be much left.
Tough pill to swallow, been there.
I am afraid your options are few at this point.

Yes, a very unfortunate situation to be left "holding the bag". No doubt the carriers you employed to haul this company's freight have all been paid and their customers have received and are using the products. Having been there myself, it is not a good feeling knowing that you paid for someone else's transportation and received nothing in return. Before you throw in the towel on this, it might be worth a discussion with a transportation lawyer to see if you have any possible recourse against the receivers. It would take a thorough review of each Bill of Lading to determine the terms of sale on each shipment, but there might be some potential to mitigate your loss. Worth a look.

Skier,

If your loss is significant...it would certainly be worth a call to a lawyer...more specifically... a transportation lawyer. There are only a few in the GTA who specialize in transport litigation. I suggest Capp, Shupak LLC. You need someone dedicated to transport law - and they come highly recommended. One of the top lawyers in Toronto.

Good Luck

I see one broker and one possible broker the one may have been spelled wrong. The 45k would hurt but the other one is a real kick in the ass. Sorry for the losses we have been there.

I agree with the others. You hate to throw good money after bad but you also hate to give up without a fight if there is a chance (however slight) that you might get some of your money.
Harvey Capp is certainly one of the best Transportation Lawyers in the city. It would be worth a call and get some advice.

Certainly Harvey Capp, or Miriam Isenberg would be my picks for a specialized transportation lawyer. However perhaps a less expensive, first option might be a paralegal who specializes in transportation, such as Scam Chaser, a member of this forum. Someone like that might be able to determine if there is any potential, prior to going all the way with a large law firm.

Is it not just chasing good money after bad? IF there is anything left after the receiver then they will get their cents on the dollar payout.

I agree a call does not hurt, but I for one would not be putting a lawyer on retainer for a maybe and a might.
