They have a location Clakamas, OR 503-4537-5429 lady that answers the phone Annette Shaner experience she is a smart alec. She handles traffic for SP Newsprint Co.

Truckers please move with caution / beware.

Bright Transport Ltd is chasing SP Newsprint Co. for freight bills to the tune of $18,359.75. SP apparently likes Canadian Truckers. They have stopped paying, hide behind voicemail, their attitude is "SMART ALEC". Paul Headly came out of hiding this morning and called Bright Transport Ltd and gave Bright a "VAGUE" answer with respect to payment. Bright Transport is extremely nervous and is not happy with SP Newsprint payable tactics. To add further insult their parent company White Birch Paper Company contact Tim Butler has a smart alec attitude as well and was no help at all.

Tom,

This company has been bankrupt for about a year (White Birch). Newsprint mills and recycling, no wonder.

I don't know how much they are still operating, but they had 3 mills in Quebec ... hence the relationships with Canadian truckers.

Ernst and Young is who you'd need to talk to ...

BTW -- it's all over the internet.

BEWARE they are moving loads and booking them with trucks in Canada. Their behavior sounds like they been up and down the road before in terms of a experience nonpayer. The $18k plus owed to Bright is a finacial hit they cannot afford to take and the best SP Newsprint can do as I stated earlier is to hide behind voicemail, give vague answers with respect to payment and just real smart alecs. Here's another fold they don't know when to stop. This Annette Shaner in Clakamas called Bright Transport yesterday wanting them to move another load. When the subject about the $18k came up she becomes a smart alec.

Transporting newsprint once upon a time was lucrative and was the bread and butter of many carriers. Times have changed.

It sounds like it's being run by the receivers now and they are looking for a 'stalking horse' buyer. A tall order for sure.

I heard they file for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Any body else heard any news about them?

It was originally Chapter 11 as they were trying to restructure. But apparently their secured creditors didn't like their plan. That's why for now it's being run by the receivers.

What a 'stalking horse' buyer means is someone who will strip the company, take the good assets and dump the bad ones, sort of thing.

Delphi ran that way for a few years before they striaghtened everything out.
