Ontario Based Company needs US Depot for Distribution

Hello:

My customer who ships all over the USA has asked that I find him a Warehouse in the States where he can send a full load of product and then from that warehouse ship to all points in the USA. I need some help finding a location. Should we seek a facility in a place like Buffalo as it is the nearest US point from his factory or a place like Chicago? Although Chicago is further away it may be a better city to set up a distribution warehouse?

Any advice or experience you have would be appreciated.

The freight is a little odd but lets just say 1-6 skids spots depending on what their customer requires.

We also ship product to the states and found that unless you manufacture and ship right off the line it is not cost effective (ie: if you store it here at all even for a few days), we have a pretty good deal going with a large US LTL carrier that we drop on their dock (we drop groupings of LTL at the best possible dock IE Syracuse, Chicago, Atlanta etc) and they do final delivery of the smaller product or we deliver direct. If you are shipping all over the US then TN is the state you want to be in, I can't think of the place in Plainfield IN that will do it also. If you want some private discussion PM me.

mac,

We should maybe talk about this so I can figure out what the best solution is. We have locations all over the US, some of which have space and would handle this sort of thing, some that would not. Email me stan.sharvit@nfiindustries.com.

Thanks

I would suggest set up the warehouse to the most serviced points in the USA. But of course extensive analysis of trucking charges, warehouse charges are essential before making any decision.
