Linehaul

Just had an unpleasant conversation with the accounts payable department.
Called them earlier this week to be told act's payable works from 11:00 to 15:00.
We took a load from them mid October under the specific conditions of 30 day payment.
We were told today that our invoice was received on October 24th and they cut checks twice a week after 45 days from receipt of invoice.
Meaning that some time at their leisure next week, they will mail us a check!!!

I wonder of Hydro Ontario or Bell Canada would be ok with those terms, I think not.
Neither are we, I certainly hope they do not offer quick pay!!!!

They are consistently 75 days with a provisio.
My stupid accounting program wont do DSO for a customer, so they are 70 days from delivery date, which is my invoice date. They are probably closer to 65, or 60 from receipt of original POD (mail is slow here).
And for the record...in the last couple months EVERYBODY seems to be slowing down. Hmmmm

Dave in London. I have noticed too that in the past 2 months, also EVERYONE has slowed down in the their payments. In the summer I our receivables were caught up at around 40 days without making any calls. Now I have a list of companies gone past this.

Somehow I thought the newest release of QuickBooks has the reporting feature you are looking for (so I've heard).

For the record, I've got zero hours actually using accounting software...

If it's got it, maybe a nice Christmas present to yourself...

Keep well,

Mike

Receivables

We are seeing the same thing here.

We, as all other carriers, have seen a slow down in time to receipt of payment.
Our good clients are 15 to 30 days and most brokers offer direct deposit.
We have several between 30 and sixty days. Most of these we work with quite a bit and can tolerate the delay.

In the case of Linehaul, we do not know them and have never dealt with them. Our truck ran several miles out of route to get the load. All we asked for was payment in 30 days. Their dispatcher agreed.

We picked up on time, delivered on time. We were courteous and delivered the freight safe and sound. We have held up our part of the bargain.

They did not hold up their end.
Shame , shame , shame on them.

No skin off our back, we will still be here in 6 months. I am laughing at the thought of how much fun they will have trying to find carriers to do their work then!!!

MikeJr: There is a shareware download I can purchase online for 10 bucks that does a DSO report, but I'm always leery of online purchases. I havent moved into the 21st century. I have the latest update of QB and its not there from the factory.

For everybody else: I had a minor issue with MikeJr's company this week and let me tell you this...MikeJr keeps his word. From what I have experienced he's a straight up 'get'er done' dude. Kudos and thanks.

Not negating or minimizing anyone else's problems by any means. Just sharing that we invoiced them Feb27, 2012 and mailed invoice (not sure why we didn't email). Cheque was cut on April 12 and mailed.

I just want to let everyone know that LLI is NOT run by a good person, he has lost more than 5 employees in one year! He screams and yells at his workers daily, makes them "invoice" for payment as a contractor so he doesn't have to pay any taxes (isnt that illegal). Very racist...all and all not a good person. Please be aware and also do not work there.

If these are true report to labor board; people like this only get away with it because people let them. If you contact right people his life will become hell! WSIB as well Revenue Canada would love this information at well!

Anyone who has first hand knowledge of a crime has a duty to report.

Would you call 911 if you saw an obvious drunk driver on the road? I have numerous times. What if that driver killed someone?

Maybe not a great comparison, but the logic is the same.

Keep well,

To bad somebody did not call the police on the drunk driver from Brampton with the dump trailer that hit the Burlington Skyway before it happened , would have saved a lot of aggravation for a whole lot of people . Just lucky nobody was hurt, hopefully he will be dealt with the full extent of the law, another black eye for the trucking community

I'm surprised nobody called 911 either...but I guess they probably wouldn't have gotten there in time anyways. Can't believe nobody was hurt...that is a miracle. I'm also surprised that the driver was only charged with the two DUI charges. Surprised he wasn't charged with more, like dangerous driving, endangering others...etc.
