With freight volumes down significantly this year why would you want to give an outbound load to someone you have never dealt with. Just curious......

I can't speak for keep on truckin, but I have noticed a decline in the willingness of carriers I use on a regular basis to take freight. In the past 3 weeks I've used the link more than I had in the previous 3 months in total. I have never seen it this crazy before... People are complaining that they have no freight and I offer them freight and I'm told they don't have the capability???? There are no payment issues, just that they have no capability....I have had to open the doors to new carriers on some lanes...

i had to fight three other brokers to get this load and then offered it to my regular inbound carriers but the rate wasn't enough for them ....alas .i had to post it ,and they came out of the woodwork...by the way i asked hiba for referances, and he bolted,i ended up giving to my regular good carrier and barely made anything on it but i know it will be done right..

Those are very interesting comments. I suppose many carriers have also cut back on their fleet size to match the available freight. Thanks for the comments folks.

Can't speak for everyone else out there, but in our case it's getting harder and harder to find enough freight to get out and still make money. Today in the trucking industry is something like "The Perfect Storm". Freight rates are down, freight volumes are down and the only thing alot of us have left to offer to get freight is transit time. A lot of people call me offering me LTL that I would love to take, but if I don't have or can't get enough freight to fill the rest of the truck I say no thank you. Seems to be a better option than saying yes and ending up calling later that day or next morning and telling someone that their freight is not going to deliver when I said it was.

Bull 958 has it right! I have so much more respect for a carrier when he tells me no, he can't haul the freight, than saying yes and hoping that he can fill out the truck. Phoning the next day to tell me that the load will not deliver as promised creates far too many problems for all parties. Anyone who purchases transportation services is looking for 3 things - service, quality and HONESTY.

$175!!!! WHAT!!!!!! Come on!!!!! You have to be joking. No self respecting broker would try that type of horse play. I know I would tell my customer that they were smoking crack if they thought that that was possible for that type of money....
