Does anyone have coverage through Cherokee Insurance, weighing the pro's and con's of there coverage. Exploring options after being with Zurich for past 10 years.

Be cautious, I personally have no experience with Cherokee however, I know two carriers that were left in the cold by them. Canadian insurance companies are less likely to leave you hanging...

Hey guys - again never dealt with them based on the advice from many brokers. They are an American insurance company. Very difficult to get ahold of and their claims dept doesn't use 3rd party adjustors. They like to control their claims, that often means denying and hoping that you don't sue them.

That's their practice, picture Bell Canada meets Verizon. If you like to get screwed and yell at people on the phone while not getting your way... have at er!

PS. If you want the most informed decision, talk to Jeff Ives at Ives Insurance (my competition), he is a stand up dude and by far has the most business/experience with them.

If you want a broker with 100% market access, come see me ;)

Thanks Bell City and Trkinsure for the feed back, I kind of figured that they would a bad fit, when Matty Moroun is tie to this outfit, some things just seem too good to be true.

They came in a few years back during the last hard market and scooped up some accounts. It's part of Ives and run completely by them. Not sure they are actively taking any accounts at this time. There are other, better options available at this time.

Cherokee Insurance is just as good if not a better option than anyone else in the general market. Do not believe things you are reading from people who have no experience dealing with them without hearing both sides. Also, many brokers do not have access to them so some will tell you they are not a good option for that reason. I would say that why not see how competitive they are, getting a quote doesn't cost you money. As for service they are quick to respond to issues and easy to get a hold of, and are more easy to deal with in regards to US exposure as they are indeed an American company. Also another plus with Cherokee is that they do monthly adjustments, this eliminates the 21B adjustment so you do not have to wait until the end of the year to get money back from decreasing your fleet size or pay a large some for increasing your fleet size.
