I'm looking to get a new software as the old excel sheet is getting a bit too slow. I've demoed the loadlink dispatch software but it doesn't look functional long term. I've also used mercury gate, but it's not worth it for the size of my operation.

Link is doing a big update of their product to align it up with the Windows 10 upgrade at the end of September. I don't know it that will change anything with their other features ...

www.arcline2000.com is great as a freight brokerage software. If you are a Canadian company, a key feature to have that many TMS do not offer is adding in GST/ HST automatically on the system generated invoice. If you get a TMS without this feature, you will have to manually add Tax which when your busy can easily be forgotten. Alternatively you have export invoice to your accounting software then generate the invoice from Quick books or whatever accounting software you use. Defeats the purpose of investing into a TMS. Arcline 2000 is downloaded to your computer or server but they offer both lease and purchase options with many add on features to enhance the software. The more you use it, the more you appreciate it.
- If you are a smaller operation, under 5 people, you can simple down load Arcline to one machine and everyone in the office networks to that machine with a short cut to the program on their desktop or laptop. This is called Peer to Peer.
- You can also host on your own server.

Another software to consider http://prophesyondemand.com/product/ a 100% web based TMS with many great features and you only pay month to month, no purchase option available. They charge a small set up fee to get your Quick books up and running. If you all your carriers, shippers/ consignee's/ customer are in excel file, they charge a fee import all data. After that, it is just month to month. This TMS does have the ability to calculate GST / HST. Prophsey also offer's other software that you can purchase and host on your server but Prophsey on Demand was created for small/ mid sized brokers/ trucking companies who don't have a server.

Another program to consider with a reasonable purchase price with lots of built in features is http://www.infositetech.com/. They are Canadian based and seem to offer a good TMS program to consider. Good for brokers and trucking companies.

If you are planning to have a server and want super high end system then consider:

TMW Transportation systems: http://www.tmwsystems.com/software-services/transportation-management-software/tms-brokers
or
http://www.axonsoftware.com/
or
http://www.pcssoft.com/

I believe both Axon and PCS offer TMS program that is downloaded to your server or you can pay a month fee to have to the software hosted on their server that you can access remotely. You will have to ask for more details as you may loose some features when you host on their server vs your own.

I hope this helps.

Good servers are expensive, but worth every penny. In terms of usefulness, it's the difference between a Lamborghini, and a Ford F250. There is just so much more you can do with your own data centre. If you don't have superior in-house IT, then seriously consider going third party management for your hardware. That is definitely one of those "Do not try this at home" issues if you have even the slightest bit of doubt about your own capabilities.

We use TMW Systems' Truckmate software and although this particular offering is primarily asset based, it does have the capability of doing brokerage, and does it very well. However, if your after strictly brokerage, they also have an offering for that which is very well done. The sales rep in Ontario is Steve Dempsey sdempsey@tmwsystems.com . He's good people.

Be advised though, this type of setup, although do anything, from anywhere, is going to chew up the better part of 100K pretty easy.

I'm deciding on a software now, but I'm interested in options that are based online via PHP and mysql. I prefer something similar to Mercurygate.

I've tested UFOs, Arcline and loadlink and neither of them provides that. Anyone have suggestions?

Another good one, that we have been using for a number of years, is DispatchMate by Infosite Technologies. They are out of Montreal but offer good support wherever you're located.

I saw a demo a few months ago of a product that looked to me to be pretty impressive. Great front end for clients, user friendly, etc. I've been in contact with Justin and heard recently that their carrier focus software package is tip-top, and they are looking for beta testing (companies that want to try it). I've not seen the carrier version first hand but understand they do have a mobile Ap.

Carriers - Check it out if you are looking, may be perfect for you! They are looking for beta testers.
Brokers - the demo I saw a few months back when it was being developed looked to me like it was going to be great when completed. They're looking for beta testers.

Check it out, I'm sure members would be interested in feedback.

Admin - I hope you're not mad at me, I'm not advertising my employer, rather one I found to be geared to the future of software for us all.

Keep well,
Mike
