Beware of Harster Greenhouses in Dundas ON.

The shipper - Andre Harster with his "I don't give a crap" attitude, who owns Harster Greenhouses in Dundas,ON, seems to think it's OK to adjust rates to what he thinks is fair AFTER the rates have been agreed on and the loads have been hauled and delivered on clean B/L. I have experienced this first hand and have legal action started to collect the rest of the agreed rate. Just thought I'd share this with the good people in the trucking industry to take Harster Greenhouse loads at your own risk, and they will be looking for carriers for Mothers Day shipments.

REBUTTAL to member Int's statements

As the son of Andre Harster and an employee of Harster Greenhouses, our family business, I'd like to shed some light on the statements of member "Int" who started this thread and offer our side of the story because we feel it has been unfairly presented.
We value our good name, especially on industry forums such as Insidetransport.com, and know the importance of trust and loyalty when doing business. Our track record of over 35 years in the industry speaks for itself. This is why we would like to answer to Int's statements which we believe are unfounded, slanderous, and were posted after he had already accepted payment for his services.

Member “Int” or Martin Frado, freight broker and owner of Frado Freight Service in St. Catherines Ontario, was owed a 10% commission on some cargo he helped us find a carrier for. Once the cargo was delivered he claimed we owed him additional payments for transport fees. Although we disagreed with his claims and felt he was not respecting the original agreement we paid him anyway what we believed to be fair. His lawyer accepted this payment on his behalf, a cheque for $9229, which Mr. Frado cashed. One year after having accepted and received payment Mr. Frado is now suing us in small claims court.

Although I respect Mr. Frado’s right to post whatever he feels like onto public forums I’m upset he felt the need to verbally attack my father and would ask him, if he responds to this thread, that he be a little more civil.

Thank you for taking the time to hear me out and I will post the outcome of Mr. Frado’s legal action against us once it has been resolved in small claims court.

Cheers,
Yannick Harster

I picked up LTL a handful of times from Harster during this period and didn't have any problems. They were not my client, simply a consignee.

Any updates?
