Congratulations to Albert Lake

September 3, 2016 marks Albert's 20th anniversary at Starship. He's seen old partners go, he's seen trucks come and go, he been married during his tenure here, he's largely handled after hours miracles and he's ridden all of the peaks and valleys in the business and industry over this time.

A sincere thank you to Albert for his years of hard work, dedication and loyalty. Many of you know Albert, you're welcome to offer kind words next time you speak to him.

Keep well,
MikeJr

I'm super mean to him all the time, he just keeps showing up.
I'm kidding of course.
Over half of our staff have been here 10+ years. The new hires for growth either get weeded out before 6 months or stay aboard. We've come a long way from the late nineties. People that prove loyal, valuable and hard working stay and learn that this place is like having a second family. Yaya, there's the stresses brought on by some challenges, fixing errors, etc... but we're full of 'lifers' here.

I have a different kind of announcement about Albert.
He did celebrate his 25th anniversary last September (2021) at my old employer. I don't have all the details because I wasn't there. I'm sure he was proud of his tenure and of the hundreds of thousands of shipments he was in charge of over those years. He is one of the few that understood truly how important carriers are to a brokerage.

I have sad news. Albert was recently diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer. It's too late to do anything for him. He's got under 2 weeks left.

No need to post anything here as he won't be checking in here. If you know him outside 'work' send him positive mesages and positive vibes. If you know of him only as fun to work with keep him in your heart. If you didn't like the way he spoke to you while performing his work, not to worry you won't hear from him again. If you hardly knew him or didn't at all, this is a reminder that even people with true hearts and strong faith can go far too young.

May God bless him and his family through what will be the hardest part of their lives.
Here I go crying at work. It's ok, it's for a good reason. You will be missed my friend.

I never had the opportunity to meet the man, but if he was a friend of yours Mike, then we have unfortunately lost a good one. Sad news indeed and condolences to all his friends and family.
