Wow... it's amazing that it didn't do more damage.

Thankfully, there wasn't anyone in the building.

I've done a little with Jeff Bryan over the years... they've always been a pretty solid carrier.

My thoughts are with the Bryan family and employees.

Factoring invoices now?

Anyone having payment issues with them ?

He is now hooked up with Double D (same yard, drivers ad,s etc) Not sure who owns what as I have heard conflicting stories on the ownership of the 2 companies.
Had no idea they where factoring.

I've always know Jeff Bryan to be a really good carrier. Nice equipment, good group in the office... they always did what they said they would. But I know they had a fire... I heard they were mixed up with Double D (who I never had good luck with really) and today I get a letter saying that they're factoring.

Say what you will about factoring (I understand both sides)... but this is an established company and is sets off alarm bells and visions of cash flow issues in my small mind.

Jeff sent a bunch of his old tractors to SC. He has a drayage division pulling containers out of The Port of Charleston...tough looking old junk!

I guess factors will always be viewed negatively in the minds of many, but the flip side is that Jeff Bryan is/was clearly a good company with a good reputation and unfortunately fell on some bad luck. Only a factor can help such a company re-establish themselves and for that, I suspect they are grateful. I wish them well in their recovery.

For all the carriers that are trying to build or re-build their businesses, please consider the merits of factoring and dealing with a reputable firm. Used responsibly, it can help you succeed when all other doors are shut.

I know this is an old thread but being new to the forum. . . . . here's a different alternative to factoring.

I can accommodate doing sale leasebacks on equipment already owned or almost paid for (as that equipment will have decent equity). It's a little more difficult than doing a normal new deal . . . . and your other lenders will probably have to sign a waiver as they will certainly have registered either a General Security Agreement (banks love those) or have registered as a blanket interest on the Personal Property Security Act (PPSA) (if in Ontario).
But at least your daily trade customers won't be involved.

Not trying to muscle into the Factoring industry but I think it might be an interesting alternative.

Understood.

Just saying for anyone else out there who's experiencing short term cash flow issues and doesn't want to factor.
