Hi can someone help me here I have a customer who requires sprinter vans for regular work to the US
Every time I ask my insurance broker how to add them into the fleet they always ask for 3 years of experience
Is it really true that we need 3 years of experience? if someone can give me idea how much is the insurance and plates cost?

Thanks in advance

Well my guess is if they are asking then you need it, if your CVOR is not so good or you are a fairly new company I don't think any company has a choice. You have to earn the insurance companies trust that your hiring practices will make sure you are hiring drivers up to the insurance companies standards.

We have excellent CVOR with no loss and been running for 3 years now the only problem is we don't have a fleet (Min. 20 trucks) Insurance. that's why anyone we like to hire insurance asks for 3 years of verifiable experience.

Hm, strange... I'm fleet of 1 and I have fleet insurance.. I can add as many as I can afford as long as all Tees are crossed and all I's are dotted...
And yes, Mr. lowmiler88 right... You have to comply with insurance companies guidelines if you planning to work with them...
As per plates , depends how heavy you plan to load the van, and insurance based on all usual possible factors...

Sorry I was talking about AZ driver hiring for a semi tractor-trailer
but just got word from my broker no special requirements or experience required for a sprinter van
just need to give them info about make and model and if we are using IRP plates

Thanks for the info.................

Hi Trans, PM me. Yes you need to follow the rules of the insurer. But I have a client (I’m an insurance broker) 3 years in business, excellent losses and they are now able to hire their own drivers. They have 10 trucks total.
This wasn’t by accident or luck. There is a lot of work put into making sure the insurer is comfortable with the risk prior to allowing you to open the doors.

I was lucky I didn't add any Sprinter Vans as they would be out of work right now. :p

Now I understand the procedure its really straight forward thing no special requirements.

Thanks for Everyone's reply
