People frequently post 'hey guys, do you know who services X to Y with Z equipment'. You could read through the threads and see all the carriers we recommend to each other, those carriers I would say are the good ones. If I posted a list of my favourite 50 carriers I think my boss would have an issue with that because it's an important chunk of company owned intellectual property... Just sayin'.

I don't think a list of the good guys would get rid of the bad eggs. I appreciate the effort but perhaps a list of the bad eggs would be a better approach but still difficult to get from all of us here. All you need to do is when vetting a new carrier, come to the site, enter their name in " " in the search box and voila! The bad eggs are exposed and will not get your business.

Here's the thing...
I give Carrier "X" 2 loads a week to Dallas... I pay them within terms... and they love me. They think I'm a good guy... I think they're great guys.
YOU give Carrier "X" 2 loads a year that you've posted on the link... and the conversation goes like this "I have a guy that can do it on hold for ?.?? can you beat that price yadda, yadda... Then you pay them in 75 days after a few Emails, phone calls etc. They think you're a typical broker... you think they're a mediocre carrier.
My point is... What works for some... may not work for you.
What I think is great... you think is luke warm at best.
It's been said before... It's relationships guys... RELATIONSHIPS !!!!
Get out and visit your carriers... Invite them to visit you. Put a face to the the name... Take a look inside their world and allow them to see into yours.
There is NO LIST !

I believe that every broker should at least once, get exposed to the shenanigans of a bad carrier. Like teaching a child what ”hot” is, until they get up close and personal to it, they really don’t grasp the meaning. The lessons learned from dealing with a “double brokered” load, a load held hostage, or a load where no one will tell you where it is, will make you a better businessman and fine tune your radar to detect these characters in the future.
Conversely, the same can be said about bad brokers and how every new carrier should at least get a small taste of the problems these creatures can inflict. We all know that list; failure to provide critical pieces of information about the load, cavalier attitude about your concerns, lack of after hours phone # when problems arise, and the classic, “I can’t pay you because my customer hasn’t paid me yet”.
Conversely, the same can be said about bad brokers and how every new carrier should at least get a small taste of the problems these creatures can inflict.
