Calgary based Freight Broker

They're trying to double-broker freight on Loadlink, noticed it a while back but I got all the evidence I needed when they were posting a shipment from Post Falls, ID to Quebec that in the hands of a WA based load broker that was offering it on truckstop.

Other possibilities

Just because the same freight appears on the link by two different people doesn't necessarily mean it's double brokered. The customer could have simply asked more than one broker to look for a truck.

Do you have any other evidence of this activity?

I agree with Pablo. I think you're going to find this happening a bit more often because shippers are panicking that their freight isn't moving.

Also, Caneda is primarily a carrier. Can't say I'm in love with them, but they are a legit carrier.

As capacity tightens you may also find more and more carriers developing alliances to cover off overflow loads. I imagine this practice may drive alot of freight brokers nuts.

especially if they don't have any broker's authorities to do so...

I see a few things happening in the industry. With the LCV thing, I wouldn't be surprised if carriers start partnering a lot with US carriers, picking up at the border and building the LCVs ... and using US drivers or carrier partners to handle the linehaul on US soil.

Companies like Daily, ODFL, some other US carriers delivering to customers here have been doing it for years.

A company which is primarily a carrier that brokers overflow freight is not subject to working legally as a broker. Only those businesses classified as brokers are.

I'm not saying it's right -- actually it sucks because it has always been the premise especially of so many Quebec brokers to operate in rogue. Buy a straight truck, let the mice take it over, but hey I'm a trucking company and can broker freight without any rules. That's why Quebec brokers have a bad rep.

I'm really amazed to see that some people actually have it together and know the rules and would like to see others playing by these rules!!!

If only the scum lowlife NO MC or surety bond Quebec brokers would get fined or sued or refused freight from carriers, only then would we see the end of these scum bags!

I see so many fake brokers trying to get into associations and whatever without any propee authorities and then when they are denied they cry and don't understand!

Also don't you feel like ripping them a new one when you hear of them not paying their bills and getting away with it?

The Man, even as an asset-based carrier, if you broker your overflow freight, you are subject to Sec. 191.03 of the Highway Traffic Act and must maintain a trust account. I don't think there is any distinction between brokering 1 load or 100 loads. If you offer freight to a carrier, you are a broker and subject to applicable Ontario regulation.

Also if you move freight touching US Soil you need an MC and a Surety Bond or Trust...

Unless you're a Quebecois! Then you're free as a bird lol hahaha j/k

Cheap freight

In contrast we have been shafted by twice as many little shit freight brokers from Upper Canada ( Why did they ever let the English into this fine country!!!) .

Seriously though:

As with anything that works properly, ground transportation requires greater regulation throughout Canada.
Nothing can work properly if paramaters are not set and more critically , properly enforced.

There should be no distiction between the laws of the various provinces, we are now in the 21st century and most of us are computerized and so are the governements. There is no reason whatrsoever to not have the regulations harmonized.

If we all know the rules, we can be expected to play by them.

What we really require is an combined effort on the part of all legitimate carriers and brokers to lobby our politicians to better regulate our industry.

So , I suggest we start working on this seriouly as opposed to trying to set up little lists of who we think is good or not.

As carriers we have an very substantial tool at our hands that we never seem to use to our advantage, and that is our fuel purchases and with that comes a very substantial taxes.

Caneda is ok. They do not dbl broker. They are so expensive. The reason why you see different brokers posting the same load on the link is becaus emany shippers send the same email to multiple brokers to get the lowest rates. Some times i get an email asking me to quote for a client and i can see all of their other freight brokers on the email also!

@westward they are a long established trucking company that also have 3pl, and warehousing services. They have terminals in Calgary, Edmonton, Los Angeles, Milton and are part of the Mullen Group. You will not have issues hauling freight for them pretty sure they have been around since 70's
